What are Generic medicines and are they safe?

Generic medicines contain EXACTLY the same active ingredient in exactly the same dosage as the branded equivalent. The colour and shape of the tablet and packaging may and probably do, differ.

Most are manufactured in India (as are many of the branded products!) as India has a very sophisticated pharmaceutical industry .. by far the largest in the world!

Just as we have come to accept quality computers and electronics from China, we now accept quality pharmaceuticals from Indian manufacturers.

We have our consultant Manufacturing Pharmacist who ensures that our product is manufactured under strict quality controls in facilities that he has approved and are WHO GMP approved and ISO 9000 Quality Systems certified.

Your prices seem too cheap?

As sufferers, we wanted the best value for money. However, we did not want to pay all of the mark-ups in the traditional distribution chain .. from importer, to wholesaler to retailer. We didn't want part of our purchase price going to pay for doctors' golf days or desktop gizmos paid for by the big pharmas. We do not even hide shipping costs - which is why we show them separately.

With us, you pay for the medication ONLY, no frills or fancy packaging!

What shipping options do I have?

Not many. Well, actually, none.

If you can't wait between 6 and 21 days and you can't understand that your meds come from overseas .. please don't order from us!

If you have a problem, remember our personal commitment to ensure 100% customer satisfaction - send us an email. Remember our ultimate commitment to refund you in full, immediately, but with our promise that we will never do business with you again!

What does Heartburn feel like?

Despite its name, heartburn has nothing to do with the heart. Heartburn is an irritation of the esophagus caused by acid that refluxes (comes up) from the stomach.

- A burning feeling in the chest just behind the breastbone that occurs after eating and lasts a few minutes to several hours.
- Chest pain, especially after bending over, lying down or eating.
- Burning in the throat - or hot, sour, acidic, or salty-tasting fluid at the back of the throat.
- Difficulty swallowing.
- Feeling of food "sticking" in the middle of the chest or throat.

Reporting these symptoms to your doctor is usually all that is needed for your doctor to diagnose heartburn. However, your doctor may perform special tests such as endoscopy or pH monitoring to determine the severity of your problem or to monitor your treatment.

What causes Heartburn?

Various lifestyle and dietary factors can contribute to heartburn by relaxing the lower esophageal sphincter and allowing it to open, increasing the amount of acid in the stomach, increasing stomach pressure, or by making the esophagus more sensitive to harsh acids. The underlying cause is a bacterium called H. pylori which is capable of surviving in the harsh acidic environment of the stomach. The bacteria can directly damage the stomach's protective mucous lining, decrease the body's ability to defend itself and cause an increase in acid production leading to the development of an ulcer, or sore.

What is Omeprazole's role in prevention of Heartburn/GERD?

Omeprazole is in a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI) which block the production of acid by the stomach. Other drugs in the same class include esomeprazole (Nexium). Proton pump inhibitors are used for the treatment of conditions such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome which are all caused by stomach acid. Omeprazole, like other proton-pump inhibitors, blocks the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produces acid. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this allows the stomach and esophagus to heal. Concurrent treatment as prescribed by your doctor is sometimes recommended to control H. pylori bacteria.
